News from the 2011 Profiles Client Summit - Day 2

describe the imageIt was a day full of insight, excitement, learning and good company at our 2011 Profiles Client Summit in Dallas. The day’s events included a keynote address from research director of Aberdeen’s human capital management practice, Mollie Lombardi, followed by engaging breakout sessions with clients from various industries. We will be publishing multiple posts this week to keep you up to date on our 2011 Client Summit!

Clients started the morning with registration and a continental breakfast in the foyer of the Rosewood Crescent Hotel, a luxury hotel in the heart of Uptown Dallas. Members the Profiles International Executive Team, including President Bud Haney, along with Bob Boulogne, Chief Operating Officer of Rosewood Hotel and Resorts, welcomed guests.

The conference got off to a great start with a keynote from Mollie Lombardi, Research Director of Aberdeen’s Human Capital Management Practice. Everyone at Profiles was very excited to feature Mollie as our keynote speaker.

She is the author of Aberdeen’s research report “The 2011 HR Executive Agenda: Automation, Innovation and Growth” as well as the recent “Succession Management: Sustainable Leadership for the Future.” Clearly an expert in her field, she has benchmarked the work and performance of leading organizations across the globe. She has spent over a decade helping organizations align their business and talent planning strategies.

Her keynote speech clearly resonated with the audience. Here is a brief recap of her remarks.

Titled “Talent Strategies for a Sustainable Workforce,” she begins with a brief overview of Aberdeen and the breadth of their research. She then covered steps on how "getting talent right is getting business right."

Mollie shares a lot of research with the audience showing statistics on top business challenges in large, medium and small companies. She goes on to outline how "strong businesses require strong talent, and how growth requires better talent on all levels."

She then outlines the top enablers to achieve this, which are assessments, competencies and managing the pipeline.

After providing great detail about how to encourage the above 3 enablers, she speaks about the importance and validity of assessments and their use in the workplace.

Finishing on a powerful note, Mollie advised that organizations:

  1. Need better talent to support business goals
  2. Are hungry to use data to help manage risk around talent decisions
  3. Must integrate data to fine-tune their talent engine
