The people on top know that if you want to be successful, you need to be working while others are not. Getting up just thirty minutes earlier in the morning could be the difference in your productivity level for the entire day.

Get a Great Return on Your Training and Development Investment

More than likely for an employee, the first few days or weeks on the job are consumed with training, training, and more training. They must learn everything from company policies and procedures to how the computer system works; not to mention all the responsibilities of their job. However, as the months pass the training becomes less and less; eventually becoming non-existent.

Password Security

You’ve probably heard all about the hack of over six million LinkedIn members’ passwords last Monday and ten thousand Twitter accounts more recently. In case you haven’t, you can check to see if your password was compromised here. Even if your password wasn't one of the millions that were compromised, it's still a good idea to change it.

Reduce the Business Risks Associated with Leadership Stress

leadership stress

Work-related stress can be caused by many things; long hours, job insecurity, conflict with other employees, changes in organizational structure, or a heavy workload. It affects millions of workers in all levels of an organization. According to a recent American Psychological Association survey, two out of every five employees report they feel tense or stressed out during the workday. In small amounts stress can be good, even motivating, but it is when stress levels become high that it becomes toxic and can negatively impact productivity.

2 Critical Questions to Ask for Effective Succession Planning

Succession planning is often misunderstood or undervalued in the workplace. A research poll from SHRM found that only 23 percent of organizations have a formal succession plan and 38 percent have some informal planning in place. These numbers are low compared to just how important succession planning is to an organization’s success. The research also found that larger organizations (with 2,500 employees or more) are much more likely to have succession plans.

Why bother getting fired over Facebook when you can lose your job on Twitter in 140 characters or less? Twitter can streamline your humiliation and cost you your job in record time. Just ask Gene Morphis, former chief financial officer of fashion retailer Francesca's Holdings Corp. He was fired on Monday after he “improperly communicated company information through social media.”

The end of the day arrives and you dodge the bullet; you will be returning to work the next day. Now what? Are you worried that this is only round one of the layoffs and that future downsizing will cost you your job? Has your morale and motivation level taken a hit due to the stress associated with the layoffs?

5 Tips for Creating a Team Building Culture at Work

Team Building

Creating a team-building culture starts with individual, engaged employees. Engaged employees are happier at work, get more done, and routinely go above and beyond their job descriptions. They also encourage other employees to be more engaged and productive. Most importantly, these employees are proud to be a part of their companies and are likely to stay long-term. There is no one simple set of actions that will create increased engagement levels. You will need to identify opportunities, simplify solutions, take action, and hold people accountable for following through with the policies you put in place.

Sales equal money, so without sales an organization would cease to exist. The importance of a company’s sales force cannot be understated in a competitive marketplace.
